There are ten types of energy. The first four are potential energy, and the last six are kinetic energy.
Potential energy is stored in an object due to its position, properties, and forces acting on it.
Kinetic energy is the energy an object has because of its motion.

Chemical energy, mechanical energy, nuclear energy, gravitational energy, 

Light energy, radiant energy, sound energy, motion energy, thermal energy, and electrical energy.
